Working late, both of them, different things. The space is theirs — the specific quality of it, the objects that have accumulated, the light at that hour. One of them says something, not about what they're working on, just a thought. The other responds without looking up. They continue working. This is, for both of them, an ideal condition. Neither explains this out loud.
