— The —BRAVE FLINCH

You launch before you're ready, which is both the problem and the strategy.

Aries · Mar 21 — Apr 19Wood Rabbit
I.Overview

Aries doesn't wait for permission. Rabbit wants to feel safe before committing. Wood has a vision of how things should be and refuses to accept the current version. These three layers don't resolve — they cycle. You'll charge toward something the Rabbit part isn't sure about, driven by the Wood principle that this matters, and halfway there the safety instinct kicks in and you recalibrate. People watching from outside see decisive action; inside, it's a constant negotiation between the part that moves and the part that monitors for exits. In any group, you're the one who volunteers first and then does more due diligence than anyone expected from someone who moved that fast.

II.Personality

The combination of Aries directness and Rabbit image-consciousness produces someone who says what they think more quickly than the Rabbit would like and then immediately monitors how it landed. You speak first. Then you watch faces. This isn't insecurity — it's a fast-feedback loop that allows real-time course correction. You've gotten good at the pivot.

Wood's principled quality gives your directness a backbone. You're not impulsive about things that matter — you're careful there, principled, willing to hold an unpopular position when you're certain it's the right one. The Aries surface makes it look spontaneous. The Wood underneath has been deciding quietly for longer than the delivery suggests.

Rabbit's agile mind means you can connect things across domains in ways that surprise people. Your interests are genuinely broad — not all superficial, though some are — and the cross-connections you make tend to be interesting. You notice what specialists miss because you haven't been trained to ignore it.

Now the part you don't post about.

The Rabbit shadow is the lack of decisive grip when the stakes feel high. Aries hates this — the inability to just commit and go creates friction with the very instinct that wants to charge. Wood's melancholy arrives when the scattered energy — many interests, none mastered — starts to look like the stagnation you fear. The vision of what you could be is specific and vivid. The current version keeps diverging from it.

When things feel unsafe — when the ground shifts — the response is an Aries charge followed by a Rabbit retreat. The charge was real. The retreat is real. The result is a pattern that looks erratic from outside and exhausting from inside.

Wood's fear of stagnation is sharpest here when you look at the breadth of interests and realize none of them has gone as deep as it could have. Not that you failed — that you stopped short of what was possible. That's the specific formulation. Not failure. Incompletion.

III.Love

You fall fast — Aries — and then spend the next several weeks monitoring whether the fall was wise. Rabbit's image-consciousness means you're aware of how the relationship looks from outside, sometimes more than you'd like. Wood makes the falling principled — you commit to who this person actually is.

Rabbit's warmth once safe is genuine. The agile mind makes you an interesting partner. You're rarely boring. The scattered energy sometimes makes you unreliable in small ways — not on the important things, but on the ordinary administrative things.

What breaks it: a partner who uses the unpredictability against you, who makes the anxiety a leverage point. The Rabbit that doesn't feel safe will find another burrow. The Aries part makes this look like a clean decision when it's actually a protective one.

A moment: you're at the start of something new — a commitment of some kind — and you have the specific feeling of having already committed before you quite chose to. The door closed behind you while you were looking the other way. And you're standing in the new room, and it's actually fine, and you're actually glad, and there's still a half-second where your whole system goes: wait, did we decide this? And the answer is: you did, kind of, and it'll be okay.

You've made peace with the fact that you're never as ready as you'd like to be before you start. You've just decided "starting before ready" is a reasonable definition of brave, and you're going with that.
